Estonia Is Testing A ‘Digital Residency’ Program For Internet Companies

(2017/04/13): Estonia might be opening its digital doors to international businesses very soon. The country is currently piloting an ‘e-Residency‘ program that allows entrepreneurs to run a company online using a government-issued virtual identity; in the hopes of taking advantage of a global economy to attract new investments and make the country a hub for innovation and international commerce.


MorphoTrust launches first US eID in Alabama

(2017/04/12): MorphoTrust USA and the state of Alabama are teaming up to protect citizens against identity theft and state income tax refund fraud using a groundbreaking identity verification solution, MorphoTrust’s eID. With the electronic ID (eID) application, Alabama residents will be able to protect their tax refunds with something as simple as a “selfie.” The eID initiative will allow taxpayers to opt-in to a program that adds a new layer of security regarding tax return processing.


Santander issues 100,000 Polish electronic student ID cards

(2017/04/11): In Poland, 100,000 electronic identity cards have been issued for students, combining academic and payment functions, reports the agency Newseria Biznes. The Smartcard identity card is part of the programme Santander Universidades, via which Bank Zachodni WBK wants to promote the idea of entrepreneurship among students and increase their mobility. For that purpose, the bank already cooperates already with five schools.

UK is about to pilot smartphone based driving license

(2017/03/31): The UK Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) plans pilot for smartphone based Digital Driving License in this September roll it out in spring 2018.
