(2017/02/28): The Israeli parliament Knesset passed a controversial law that will obligate all Israeli citizens to obtain biometric ID cards, with their personal information being stored in a national database.

EBA paves the way for open and secure electronic payments for consumers under the PSD2

(2017/02/23): The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today its final draft Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) on strong customer authentication and common and secure communication. These RTS, which were mandated under the revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2) and developed in close cooperation with the European Central Bank (ECB), pave the way for an open and secure market in retail payments in the European Union.

First SHA-1 collisions announced

(2017/02/23): Today, more than 20 years after of SHA-1 was first introduced, a team of researchers from CWI Institute in Amsterdam and Google have reported first practical collision for SHA-1 hash function.

Germany starts notification process for its national eID and electronic residence permit

(2017/02/20): Germany has today started the notification process according to Art. 9 of the eIDAS-Regulation for its national identity card and electronic residence permit by submitting the corresponding notification documents to the European Commission. ecsec and LuxTrust contribute new protocol for Qualified Electronic Signatures to OASIS

[Michelau, Germany / Capellen, Luxembourg, 16.02.2017] Leading experts from ecsec GmbH and LuxTrust S.A. joined forces to develop a novel “ChipGateway Protocol”, which enables generation of qualified electronic signatures in cloud-based environments and contributed this to OASIS to foster the development of open standards for electronic signatures.[more]
